I. CÔNG THỨC VÀ KHÁI NIỆM SO SÁNH HƠN

1. Khái niệm

So sánh hơn được hiểu là cấu trúc so sánh giữa 2 hay nhiều vật/người sở hữu nhau về 1 hay 1 vài tiêu chí, trong số có 1 vật đạt được tiêu chí được đưa ra cao nhất so sở hữu những vật còn lại.

So sánh hơn thường được dùng cho việc so sánh 2 hay nhiều vật/người sở hữu nhau (sở hữu những trường hợp so sánh 1 vật sở hữu tổng thể ta dùng so sánh nhất).

2. Cấu trúc so sánh hơn

So sánh hơn sở hữu tính từ ngắn và trạng từ ngắn:

Cấu trúc:

• S1 + S-adj + er/ S-adv- er + than + S2 + Axiliary V
• S1 + S-adj + er/ S-adv- er + than + O/ N/ Pronoun

Trong đấy:

• S-adj-er: là tính từ được thêm đuôi “er”
• S-adv-er: là trạng từ được thêm đuôi “er”
• S1: Chủ ngữ 1 (Đối tượng được so sánh)
• S2: Chủ ngữ 2 (Đối tượng dùng để so sánh sở hữu đối tượng 1)
• Axiliary V: trợ động từ
• (object): tân ngữ
• N (noun): danh từ
• Pronoun: đại từ

Dí dụ:

– This e-book is thicker than that one.

– They work more durable than I do. = They work more durable than me.

So sánh hơn sở hữu tính từ dài và trạng từ dài:

Cấu trúc:

• S1 + extra + L-adj/ L-adv + than + S2 + Axiliary V
• S1 + extra + L-adj/ L-adv + than + O/ N/ Pronoun

Trong đấy:

• L-adj: tính từ dài
• L-adv: trạng từ dài

Dí dụ:

– He’s extra clever than I’m = He’s extra clever than me.

– My good friend did the take a look at extra rigorously than I did = My good friend did the take a look at extra rigorously than me.

Lưu ý:

So sánh hơn được nhấn mạnh bằng phương pháp thêm a lot hoặc far trước hình thức so sánh

Dí dụ: My home is way dearer than hers.

3. Chú ý lúc so sánh hơn

Quick adj (Tính từ ngắn)

– Có tính từ có 1 âm tiết: lengthy, quick, tall,… => Giả dụ từ đấy kết thúc bằng nguyên âm + phụ âm thì gấp đôi phụ âm Dí dụ: Massive => larger; sizzling => hotter – Có tính từ có 2 âm tiết kết thúc bằng: y, et, ow, er, le, ure như: slim, easy, quiet, well mannered. (ngoại lệ là responsible, keen dùng sở hữu most vì là tính từ dài). => Giả dụ từ đấy kết thúc bằng phụ âm y -> ta đổi y thành i. Dí dụ: Glad => happier; dry => drier

– Now they’re happier than they have been earlier than. (Ngày nay} họ vui vẽ hơn trước kia.)

Ta thấy “completely happy” là 1 tính từ có 2 âm tiết nhưng lúc dùng so sánh hơn, ta dùng cấu trúc so sánh hơn của tính từ ngắn.

Là tính từ có nhiều hơn 1 âm tiết (trừ trường hợp 2 âm tiết của quick adj) như: valuable (quý báu), tough (khó khăn), stunning (xinh đẹp), necessary (quan yếu),…
